Takashi Tanimoto is the eldest son of the renowned Iga ceramicist Kei Tanimoto (1948–2024). He graduated from Doshisha University in 2001 and subsequently earned a postgraduate degree in ceramics in Kyoto. After studying under Tadashi Mori, he spent a year in Italy. In 2005 returned to Japan and settled in his native Iga as a ceramic artist.
