The works of Hiroko Nakajima unite opposites: her gestural style of painting is energetic, powerful and yet of lightness and poetry. Rooted in the tradition of calligraphy and at the same time overcoming it, the paintings set abstract signs which elude the norms of convention in order to follow their own rules.
