The artist will be present
In what is now her eighth solo exhibition at the Japan Art gallery, Yuko Sakurai (born 1970) presents a selection of her latest works on paper and wood, produced between 2024 and 2026. While color effects, color contrasts, and the subtle textures of how she applies the paint undoubtedly play an important role in the visual impact of these works, it is worth noting that Sakurai by no means sees herself as a painter in the traditional sense. She is always concerned with the works as holistic, three-dimensional objects, using the paint – generally oils – as a medium to seamlessly integrate her works into the medium chosen.
